»CHB sagt …« (CHB says …) is a computer generated installation at the Collegium Hungaricum Berlin. The 40 m² media facade, part of the building, reflects through the night on the Collegium’s daily experiences and speaks via a text-based projection to the audience. The custom-built java application is a system which queries a database containing terms collected from work flows, menus, website info and library indexes.
With NLP and other computer linguistic methods, it then forms grammatically correct sentences, consisting of nouns, verbs, pronouns, articles, and prepositions. With a pinch of artificial intelligence, the building is able to form stories about its inner life but doesn’t know if there is a deeper meaning in its projected words.
